Ulrich is best known as the founder and CEO of IBEO Automotive Systems GmbH a company that has become a cornerstone in the automotive industry, particularly in the development of LiDAR technology (Light Detection and Ranging — a remote sensing method originally used to examine the surface of the Earth) for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and Autonomous Driving. IBEO’s LiDAR technology provided state-of-the-art measurement and sensor technology for automated driving as well as mapping & localization applications.

With almost 25 years in business, IBEO has been one of the first in the industry to reinvent mobility by transforming vehicles into cooperative partners, thus making road traffic even safer. After 8 years of close cooperation with a leading system supplier of the automotive industry, in 2017, the worldwide first LiDAR-Sensor for driver assistance was installed on mass-produced passenger cars by a German premium OEM. Thanks to Ulrich's firm belief in successful LiDAR development, IBEOs innovative technology has found its way onto the road, where it can still be found today at several OEMs and also at a harvester manufacturer.

IBEO has received the Top 100 award for most innovative companies in Germany for the third time in 2022.

Ulrich’s journey began in 1998 when he founded IBEO, transforming it into an innovative supplier that caught the attention of major industry players. His leadership has been instrumental in driving forward new transport solutions, making him a pioneering expert in the field of new mobility. With over 25 years of management experience and entrepreneurial success, Ulrich has not only led IBEO from its startup roots to a major industry player with over 420 employees but has also shaped the future of automotive innovation.

Beyond his technical expertise, Ulrich is a visionary who is deeply committed to network-based self-organization and the principles of New Work. This approach emphasizes flexibility, trust, and collaboration in the workplace.

With a strong academic background that includes a PhD focused on collision avoidance for autonomous vehicles, an Executive MBA from the University of Maryland, and a rich career history including consulting roles with major companies like VW AG and SICK AG, Ulrich brings a wealth of knowledge to NATIX. His experience spans a wide array of markets, from new mobility and automotive engineering to industrial LiDAR and robotics, and will help us push decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) innovation further.
